Snippets of My Week #12

So many little spaces are opened to the public and perfect for quiet moments outside even when you are stuck in the middle of the city. The lunch hour crowd brings out many people seeking the sun as well. I started talking with a gal on the next bench because of her casually coordinated purple accented outfit and interesting Osborn craft footwear. I like what she does, “curatorial assistant.” That totally rocks. In my next life I would love to closely study and work with art and museums.

Speaking of museums, if you are in the Bay Area, please visit the De Young Museum’s Botticelli to Braque exhibit going on through the end of May. A great variety of masters are included in the presentation on tour from The National Galleries of Scotland. I like the look of art lovers enjoying the pieces. This is one of those rare cases when having someone in my shot is the very thing that makes the shot.

People in front of paintings… don’t move, stay right there, please. Golden Gate Park Concourse in the early morning.

This visit was after our early morning participation at Golden Gate Park for a walk/ run by O2 Breathe to raise awareness and funding for the Pulmonary Hypertension community. The little girl of my good friend was born with this disease, but through the incredible care of her family and the PH community, she is living a normal life with proper medication, competent nurses, and required therapies. Seeing how many friends and neighbors came to run, bike, and walk for the team was so uplifting. It’s a wonderful thing to be a part of a group coming together in strong support of a shared purpose. There are many people with illnesses that affect their lives and our lives. Every bit of emotional, financial, and physical support is needed of us all. If you keep your eyes and ears open, there are ways all year long for anyone to get involved in almost anything.

Teacher M and I had been looking forward to dinner for a long overdue date.  For now, ours is luckily the only date overdue.  “Good morning!” her text read yesterday morning, “Okay, don’t think I’ll make it on Monday … went into labor last night!!! Baby is here!” Where is the cartwheel emoji when you need one? A quick change of plans, and our date took place two days early at the hospital with the little guy close at hand.  No longer nervous when holding infants, I snuggled the baby for a good hour or so while chatting before handing him back over.

It was a GOOD Friday indeed, as the baby was born the Friday before Easter.

It is National Letter Writing month! Are 30 letters in 30 days in the cards for you? Last week I launched a #happymailhop for the month of April with @dreyray, my Instagram friend, and a small group of other snail mailers that we gathered for a social media collaboration. It’s wonderful to connect with people this way, and to push ourselves to be more creative with our styling and to encourage our communities to do the same. I am trying different approached to decorating my envelopes thanks to the influence of our participants, which I’ve been enjoying a lot! Check out our #happymailhop hashtag, especially on every third day in April when we do our hop!

Happy Mail bound for cute kiddie friends this Easter. A 14 inch pencil from the Land of Nod is the perfect April Fool’s Day prank!

And Easter Sunday is here!  Did you have a happy one? Hope you had a beautiful weekend and an even better week ahead!

eastercardjournal

Any reason to send out a card is a good one. This Rifle Paper beauty and cute little journal from Hong Kong hopefully made it to its destination in time.
