#Instabrunchsf

Weekends call for brunch, and it doesn’t end with the bottom of a mimosa glass.  To a great majority of the 300 million Instagrammers worldwide, Sunday brunch must be as appetizing to the eye as it is to the palate.  Enter #instabrunchsf, a photo taking & food styling  event hosted by Ana of Fluxi on Tour and Camille of Planning Pretty in cooperation with Feastly.

@planningpretty & @fluxi show how everyday items can make strong statements with the right light & composition.

Not to be limited to brunch photos, I’ve been working on my still life  – alright, mainly food-composition game, so to pass up on this workshop held at the bright Feastly office in San Francisco would have been a sorry mistake.  I’d admired Camille’s and Ana’s independent work before our first meeting last summer at Create and Cultivate, and respect them even more now that we have become friends and see up close that their knowledge and talent is true to who they each are.  I was happy to learn applicable tips with the photo happy group while eating some sweetly styled dishes on a Sunday morning.

Styling and instagramming by experienced pros and newbies alike.  Scones sing on blue fish tiles, no?

Table top delights all cooked by the hosts: Scones (not pictured) quiches, salad, mimosas, & parfaits with fresh fruit.

@fluxi at work guiding her guests. Student samples included @spottedsf’s well plated dish that I needed to photograph. My blurry picture of Ana teaching me how to frame a scone.

Take a look at my IG worthy photos from the event here and here and explore the rest of the #InstabrunchSF action using this hashtag.  Don’t you wish you were there?  I am certain there will be more events like this to come.  Maybe I will see you then!

    • Hi Tiffany! Glad this post brought you back to that day! You’re right, we unfortunately didn’t get to meet, as there were so many bees buzzing around at the workshop. We’ll have another IRL opportunity am sure. Thanks for stopping by and see you on Twitter!!!
