Style and Musings

Bold Brilliant Beautiful You – April
Do Something Bold
It’s just a party really.  And I love a good party.
This April for Bold Brilliant Beautiful You, I knew what I was going to write about as soon as the group was prompted to  “do something bold for ourselves we wouldn’t normally do.”   I knew right away that my bold move was the Style and Musings event I collaborated on last week.  To give you a bit of background, please click here.

Now, hosting a shindig is not a problem.  I really like providing a good time for great company, though I have admittedly not entertained at home in a while.  I like to get people together, I love the planning, the decorating, the cooking, the anticipation, etc, and mostly I enjoy seeing loved ones old and new sharing a drink, a laugh, and a moment or two together.  This is in my personal life.  As a blogger though, we all know how crazy private I (sort of) am.
So to have an actual event, co-hosted with my friend and fashion blogger, Tamryn of Wannabe Fashion Blogger  as my blogger self with my actual name on the invitation sent out by the Social Beauty Company and on the RSVP page posted on Eventbrite, it … is… really… BOLD.    Remember, I almost didn’t join the #bbby project in January because I didn’t want to post my picture on my blog in the first place.  I know, I know, issues… I am dealing.  My Instagram account had nary a photo of my face until attending Alt Summit in January, and that’s because there were event photographers and people generally taking pictures of each other, so I knew it was time to let it go!
My identity wasn’t the boldest part of doing Style and Musings, though.   The rest of what made this BOLD to me was the act of organizing an off line event with tickets, sponsors, and all.  I thought, “There is no way people other than Tamryn’s readers are going to want to be involved.  There is no way that I have readers that would want to come out and join us, nor is there any way that a business would want to be a part of this.”  Goodness, was I wrong.  How happy I am to stand corrected.
Though I knew from the start of our planning that this was bound to be a great time for everybody,  I was well aware that it could have gone in the other direction, had not all of the pieces come together.   From the support of La Boulange de Union, Hint Water, Bev Mo, Kidogo_Kidogo, and the team at the Social Beauty Company, to the enthusiasm and participation of our guests whose beauty treatment purchases benefitted Dress for Success San Francisco,  I proudly can say that my bold collaborative move this month did what we intended for it to do.  It brought our reading community together over a delightful afternoon of feel good beauty tips, drinks, bites, and camaraderie in support of strong, motivated San Francisco women.  I like that Dress for Success San Francisco is not just a place to donate an old suit.  It is an organization that gets women into the workplace and keeps them there by providing them with the tools, guidance, and support that reveals to women how important, powerful and capable they are.   I am looking forward to my volunteer orientation next month.  I am excited that I can be involved.  We all can.  Let’s get this show on the road, shall we???
Fun and surprises!  Even Toffifay, my traveling penguin came out to play!
I wish you all could have made it to our event.  I sincerely thank you for reading, for commenting, for emailing, and generally wishing me well every step of the way.  If this is your first time here, thanks for visiting.  As my blog name indicates, I would still be writing even if nobody reads this, but I am well aware now that because somebody reads this little blog of mine, I have the courage to be even bolder than I could have hoped to be.
That is what I wish for you too.   If there is something you are passionate about, pursue it.  If there is something that interests you, seek it.  If you know that there is something that comes naturally to you, something that you are good at, do it and more importantly, share it.  Not everyone is looking, but believe me, at least somebody is.
When all else fails, remember,
Alcohol, lipgloss, and raffle prizes on a Sunday afternoon makes everything possible.
About Bold Brilliant Beautiful YOU
I’m joining forces with some amazing friends to motivate and encourage ourselves and others to be bold and step out from behind the lens, projects, and mama status to show ourselves. That’s right, we’re doing something just for us.

  1. I am SO VERY PROUD of you Bobbie!! What a bold step indeed, though after meeting you I have no doubt you could secure as may guests and sponsors as you set your mind to do. You are so charismatic and energetic who wouldn't want to spend a day with you. Love you lady, my BBB sister

  2. Wow! What an incredible event. Wish I lived in SF so I could have attended!

ps. I can not believe how much your blog has grown since we first met. I am thrilled for you and for me, as a reader!

  3. Stacy! Thank you! Really means a lot to me. Yeah, who knew, right? Waiting for the chance to spend another day with you, sister!!! 😘

  4. Thanks Jen! Was really fun & am so happy with how it turned out indeed. Again, any growth I have had has to do with that first ALT class I took with you. You know it's the truth!!
